Although I’ve written about her a few times, I like to keep Kim Zolciak-Biermann at arm’s length, so I don’t know much about her past. However, this story forced me to read her background (although I admit I just relied on Wiki for the info). Kim recently went “home” to Connecticut, which confused me because she blasted on to the scene by being a Real Housewife of Atlanta. But Kim grew up in Windsor Locks, CT, apparently, not arriving in Atlanta until she was 21. That’s all just some backstory for this post because Kim took to Instagram this weekend after returning to Windsor Locks, and showed her followers where she came from. In the caption to the shot above, Kim spoke of how all of the dreams she’d had as a 12-year-old come true. Oh, and that all those who didn’t believe in her could suck it.
This is the house I grew up in! I stopped by yesterday to see it 💕 I’ll never forget my small town of Windsor Locks CT ❤️ My parents always kept the house in tip top shape when we lived there. I always knew when I was in that far room to the right (I daydreamed all the time of exactly where I am today🙏🏼) That I would end up on television. I wrote in my journal at 12yrs old “that I will have my own show by the time I was 30” well I started on RHOA at 29 and got my own show when I was 33! I feel so blessed and so grateful! 🙏🏼 I was bullied in school by 2 specific girls (I so bad want to say their names 😂) and I use to say to myself I’m going to be “famous” and come back and show their asses 😂 guess what they both have reached out on Facebook to me since those horrible traumatizing high school days just like I knew they would 😉 I’m thankful for those bitches because they really gave me intense motivation to get to where I am today.
Kim posted two more photos (so far) of the Subway and McDonald’s that were her first jobs. Without knowing how often Kim returns to CT (her parents moved to Atlanta, which is how she ended up there), maybe this is the first time she’s been back. In that sense, I get it. She was living what she considered a modest lifestyle, dreamt of becoming a star and decades later, she returns to realize how far she’s come. I see why she’d want to show that off.
But Kim’s messages can never be simple, can they? If Kim was bullied by two women in her school, then that is unfortunate. Maybe it was the bullying that made her so contentious. But her post explains something about Kim that I could never put my finger on before – her “intense motivation.” Because Kim’s relentless displays of her wealth are always so performative. And her – let’s say ‘cultivated’ – appearance, it’s more than just a woman making herself happy through elective surgery, it’s sending a message. Everything about Kim is loud, designed to shock the senses. I’m not diagnosing anything, but I will say that a person who didn’t feel seen in high school could maybe react in such a way later.
Should we takes bets for how long it takes Kim to say those names she’s so desperate to call out?
