Jake Galliher Obituary, Death – The names Theresa G. Joyce McDonough Joyce G. McDonough, our much loved sister and auntie, died away on February 1st, 2023 at the residence in North Haven that she shared with her family. It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you of her passing. She was a member of our family for many years. Her age was seventy years old.

In 1990, Joyce began her career at Columbia University, where she remained until her retirement in 2016. Her previous roles included Director of Continuing and Electronic Resources, Management Division, and Director of Technical Support and Acquisitions. She also held these positions at the same company. While she was employed at the University of Louisville from 1986 until 1991, she held the role of Head of the Acquisitions Department.

Her previous employment was held at the university. All of this occurred prior to her beginning her employment at Columbia University. Not only did she serve as the chair of the Image Competition Committee, but she also served as the Executive Manager of the Connecticut Professional Photographer’s Association (CTPPA). Both of these positions were held by her.

She attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison and received a Master of Arts degree in Library Science through the institution in the year 1977. In spite of this, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Albertus Magnus College in the year 1974 that she graduated. Throughout the entirety of her professional life, Joyce was a loyal and active member of the American Library Association (ALA).

Over the course of her 46 years of service, she was a member of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) division of the American Library Association. The tremendous accomplishments that Joyce has accomplished at all levels within ALCTS, her outstanding dedication to service, and her constant commitment to quality have all contributed to this.

In recognition of her willingness to take on difficulties and her consistent track record of pushing ALCTS to the forefront of accomplishments, she was honored with an award of recognition from ALCTS in the year 2017. Joyce has always had a strong interest in libraries and librarianship, and she made it a point to ensure that her four nieces all had a strong interest in reading. Joyce adored her nieces and nurtured two golden retrievers, Mackenzie and Spirits, which she cherished greatly. She also lavished her affection on her nieces.
